Match Analysis :
Today's match will be the 17th match of this edition's IPL which will be played between Mumbai Indians Vs Punjab Kings.
Mumbai Indians would be aiming to address their batting woes to achieve consistency while Punjab Kings would be desperate to arrest their overall slide when the two sides clash in an IPL match here on Friday. Both the team have to prove themselves as of now PBKS positions at second last in the point table with 3 losses and 1 win. And Mumbai were a bit ahead of them with 2 wins and 2 losses.
Punjab Kings opened the account with a thrilling four-run win, but have gone on to lose convincingly thrice in a row. Being shot out for 120 by SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Wednesday hinted at bigger problems for the KL Rahul-led team, which has more than one issue to resolve, especially its composition. Three straight losses would have definitely dented PBKS's morale and the team needs to recover quickly or else its play-off hopes would slip fast.
The Kings have shifted their base to Chennai from Mumbai for a couple of games and will be moving to Ahmedabad after facing Mumbai Indians on Friday. At Chepauk, where targets have been defended as the tracks becomes increasingly sluggish with the passage of time, and batsmen find it hard to slog the ball from the word go, Punjab waived the advantage after winning the toss against Hyderabad in their last encounter, tumbling out for an unimposing 120.
Rahul has got two fifties in four games so far but has lacked support from others. His captaincy has not inspired a lot of confidence and muddled team selection has compounded his troubles.
Deepak Hooda showed what he is capable of, but greater consistency would be needed from him if the team has to prosper. 'Universe Boss' Chris Gayle has not been able to boss over proceedings while his fellow West Indian Nicholas Pooran, expected to provide the big shots in the middle, has come a cropper so far.
The Kings' bowling attack hardly bothered the Sunrisers Hyderabad top order on Tuesday. So they may want to bring in a frontline spinner like Ravi Bishnoi, who was their second-highest wicket-taker and their most economical bowler last season.
Whereas Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai crashed to defeat against Delhi Capitals following an inept batting performance and will look for redemption. Rhoit Sharma looked in good touch but but others could not get going and the misfiring middle-order would be a major concern for the side. Mumbai will hope that the likes of Rohit, Quinton De Kock, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya and Pollard who are yet to play big innings, set the stage on the fire against the Punjab Kings.
The MI bowlers have more often than not risen to the occasion and won matches for the team. However, they couldn’t do so against Delhi and would like the batters to put up bigger scores for them to do the job.

17th match of IPL will be held at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. At this Chepauk ground we have witnessed low scoring matches because of slow track. It always helped the spinners the most. 165 - 185 will be very competitive score at this venue.
