Match Analysis :

This is going to be the 23rd match of the 14th edition of IPL. The clash will be between the two teams who was established at the top of the table and other is at the bottom of the table. As long as the competition is reaching to its mid way teams like Hyderabad who are languishing in the lower half of the table after winning just one of the matches played so far. They are up against a side in great form, Chennai Super Kings who are on a winning streak.

For a team that has been kept on high ground for its consistent performances, the Sunrisers Hyderabad has done too little this year to live up to the standard. They made their worst start in any season, recording a hat-trick of losses before finally opening their account, but got back to losing ways again, and are languishing at the bottom with one win in five games. Hyderabad rely heavily on their foreign recruits, led by skipper David Warner, opener Jonny Bairstow, Kiwi great Kane Williamson and Rashid which is a cause for concern. Their biggest weakness is a fragile batting order and over-reliance on the top order.

SRH, who lost to DC in a super over, will make a few changes to the side if senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is fit and available. The pacer could replace Siddharth Kaul in the 11 from the last match. Left-arm spinner Jagadeesha Suchith, who had a decent outing in their last match, may keep his place after a handy job with the ball and his impressive finish with the bat that took his team to the super over. The rest of the set up may, however, remain unchanged.

However Chennai Super Kings will undoubtedly start as favorites, given their recent run of form. However, MS Dhoni and co. will be wary of what the Sunrisers and Rashid Khan, in particular, are capable of in the shortest format. With two valuable points up for grabs, we should be in for a cracker to kickstart the Delhi leg of IPL 2021. MS Dhoni and co. will head into Wednesday's fixture on the back of a 69-run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore. Riding on the exploits of Faf du Plessis and Deepak Chahar, Chennai Super Kings have impressed in the powerplay overs with both the bat and ball. Given the balance and depth they possess.

Top Picks for Fantasy 11 :

David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Vijay Shankar, Rashid Khan, Shardul Thakur, Khaleel Ahmed and Imran Tahir

Expected 11 :

Sunrisers Hyderabad : David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, Kane Williamson, Virat Singh/Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, Kedar Jadhav, Rashid Khan, J Suchith, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma/Khaleel Ahmed, Siddarth Kaul

Top pick for Captain/ Vice Captain  :

Captain : Faf Du Plesis, David Warner, Jonny Bairstow

Vice Captain : Suresh Raina, Sam Curran, Vijay Shankar

Venue :

Although the pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium should be a good one to bat on, there should be ample help on offer for the bowlers. With some grass expected to cover the surface, the pacers should get the ball to swing and bounce early on. The spinners should also get some purchase off the surface, keeping the batsmen on their toes in the middle overs. With dew likely to play a role in the second innings, both teams will prefer to chase upon winning the toss. 160-170 should be the par score at the IPL venue.

Interesting facts :

  • Bairstow needs 71 to become the fifth player with 1000 runs in the tournament as a wicketkeeper.
  • If Pandey get into the playing XI, then it will be his 150th appearance in the IPL.
  • Jadeja is two hits shy of a ton of sixes in T20s.
  • Teams winning the toss have opted to chase 42 times in 74 outings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
  • Warner strikes at over 150 against both Ravindra Jadeja and Imran Tahir in T20s and at 150 against  Moeen Ali
  • Since the start of IPL 2020, the Super Kings have scored 43 runs on an average in the powerplay.
